New Forest Day Services have made great use of some extra funding to
help people start thinking about their person-centred plans.
They
applied to the Adult & Community Learning Unit (part of Hampshire
County Council); for funding and then set up sessions for a small group.
People
worked on things like their best day; what do people like about me;
their wishes; life story lines with smiley faces on the happiest times.
They used drawings and disposable cameras which made things more fun
and accessible. They also had a local couple come in to talk about
their own plan and how it had helped.
The course got really positive feedback - so much that people have asked for more person-centred planning!

People met at a recent workshop in Totton to hear some ideas about
including people who have higher support needs in person-centred
planning.
Guest speakers told us how they had approached this,
but participants also had plenty of great ideas that they had used or
were going to try.
There was a real commitment to including
people that can often seem hard to plan with - we felt this group might
need a good plan most of all to help them get a better life!
