Person-centred support: What service users and practitioners say
This report presents findings from an event run as part of the national 'Standards We Expect' project. The event looked at what person-centred support means to people who use, work in and manage services; what barriers exist to making services person-centred; and how the obstacles might be overcome.

A Summary has been added in the Resource section of this website along with the address for the full report.
Best wishes
Jason

Yap - website for young people 16-24

Yap is a website for young people with learning disabilities aged 16-24.
The website has lots of person centred planning features. You can build up your own profile using pictures or films. It's a place to talk about the things that are important to you.
You can register which allows you send messages to other young people. There's also some good advice about keeping safe on the internet too.
The site has been developed by Mencap, here is the link:

Local Involvement Networks

A LINk will be a network of local people, organisations and groups that want to make care services better.
A LINk will give you the chance to say what you think and to suggest ideas to help improve services. They will be expected to represent everyone. A LINk will also work with care professionals tomake sure your views are heard. There will be a LINk in every Local Authority area that has social services responsibility.
LINks will replace Patients’ Forums, and the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health will stop.
A leaflet about LINks from teh Department of Health is attached to this post.
kind regards
Jason

The future is here in the form of self-directed care

It’s official: self-directed support is making people happier with their lives. Indeed, in Control, the model for personalised funding, has proved so successful in pilot schemes that many believe that it is just a matter of time before the new system goes mainstream. Thelma Agnew reports (LDP)
